Personal History Zach comes from a family line that has been involved with Starfleet since its inception. His great-grandfather was the XO of the NX-Columbia and later the CO. His grandfather was an exceptional Starfleet Doctor. His father is the CO of the Belvue and his mother is an instructor at the Academy.

Zach loved the few times his father was able to get him a tour of a ship or a visit to McKinley station. Zach always wanted to be able to fly a ship and be a Starfleet Officer like his parents. His parents pushed him hard in his pre-Academy schooling.

Zach did rather well in Academy, but was known for opening his mouth when he should be keeping closed. A number of instructors gave him demerits. One thing they couldn't say he wasn't good at was flying and operations of vessels in fleet movements. He graduated first among helm and command track students and twentieth in his class altogether.
